Through the Eyes of a Child conference is designed for professionals whose work impacts the well-being of children and families. We invite experts from the fields of law, child welfare, medicine, child development and more to come together to learn from each other as well as our expert presenters. The conference focuses predominantly on guardian ad litem practice issues in the
child welfare system. However, we do offer sessions that target family law guardian ad litem practice issues and most topics cut across systems to engage all professionals working to serve
children and families.
Most of these professionals have attended this conference previously and are not new to their profession. Therefore, we consider our audience to be “intermediate” or “advanced” practitioners
and consequently request that our presenters prepare their presentation for such an audience.
In 2009 our participants indicated the following professions:
33% Guardian ad litem
30% Social Worker
14% Other
9% Court Commissioners
6% Juvenile or family court attorney
4% CASA volunteer
3% Prosecutor
2% Public Defender
1% Therapist
The conference offers Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits, including guardian ad litem and ethics credits. Judicial Education credits and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are also offered for participants.
